FROGS Projects Before 2006

St Matthews (Kaimo V.) Lower Basic School

The small villiage school at Kaimo V. needed an extra classroom to accomodate extra pupils. The villgers were able to make the blocks for the walls, but needed help purchasing roofing sheers, doors and window frames. The finished building was in use in May 2004.

Kanuma Lower Basic School - Wood Carving Teaching Project

In April 2004 the Headteacher of Kanuma LBS asked Barbara and David Jordan if FROGS could fund the setting up of a wood carving teaching project.

One of the villagers was willing to teach the children the skills of wood carving, but needed tools and basic materials. FROGS agreed to fund the purchase of the items required:- tools, wood, sand paper etc. During our 2005 visit we watched pupils carving various items and bought some of the finished articles home for selling.

This generated income will provide the school with essential basic materials. The project cost 200 to set up and is producing well carved items.

Provision of First Aid Boxes to Lower Basic Schools

Since 2003, 29 First Aid Kits lockable metal boxes equipped with the basic requirements for treating minor injuries in schools, have been handed over.

The boxes and contents cost approximately 20 each, and enable teachers to treat minor injuries without needing to take children to clinics, which can be a considerable distance from the school.
